Nearly two years into the pandemic, many Americans are reevaluating their relationship with work. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 4.5 million Americans had quit their jobs at the end of November 2021, while 10.6 million jobs were open. Some analysts have suggested that the number of people quitting white-collar office jobs is modest, and that the Great Resignation is about strong demand for workers, rather than a rethinking of labor.
