The European Union, United States, United Kingdom and several other countries have signed a landmark AI safety treaty ' the first legally binding international agreement that intends to align artificial intelligence (AI) systems with democratic values. The Framework Convention on artificial intelligence and human rights, democracy, and the rule of law was set out by international human rights organization the Council of Europe and signed in Vilnius, Lithuania. Many nations are working on legislation to mitigate the risks of AI technology. In the World Economic Forum's Global Risks Report, 'adverse outcomes of AI technologies' was identified as a top ten risk over the next decade, as was misinformation and disinformation.
